Skincanceronly takes the independence of education content very seriously. Our education material is based on evidence based medicine as a priority.
Unfortunately in dermatology quality evidence based medicine is often unavailable. In such a circumstance our education will identify the lack of evidence and offer education advice based on lower levels of evidence.
If there is little or no evidence to support a management process / treatment, Skincanceronly and Associate Professor Dixon will be quick to so indicate.
We are concerned that in 2009, for the first time in the history of our education programs, a commercial entity has sought to influence our education content.
Skincanceronly is concerned that office bearers within Allmedic Pty. Ltd. has made several attempts to pressure Skincanceronly into altering content on this web site.
Allmedic has also sought to influence the content in educational activities conducted by Associate Professor Dixon. Not only will Associate Professor Dixon and Skincanceronly not be bullied by such inappropriate attempts to effect the content of education we provide but we will here name and shame Allmedic for so doing.
Allmedic have a modus operandi of attempting to have parties talk favourably (or not at all) about them by making threats or suggestions of legal repercussions.
Any company / entity that attempts to coerce us into altering content to be more favourable to their products will be similarly named and shamed on this web site.
We at Skincanceronly are concerned that some skin cancer education bodies in Australia can be successfully pressured by commercial entities into withholding open and frank information about their skin cancer products. Associate Professor distances himself from such behaviour.
SPONSORS
Skincanceronly frequently has commercial sponsors for our education events. We acknowledge our sponsors and recognise their contribution in assisting our education programs. However, sponsorship will not alter or influence the content of the education as it pertans to the products of the sponsor.
At times potential sponsors have requested a copy of our education content before making a final decision on sponsorship or otherwise. Such requests have been and will be denied as this move in itself could influence education content.
